Demetrios Efstratiou
joined the firm
as an associate in June 2011. Demetrios majored
in Political Science in college and received his
Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998 from Rice
University in Houston, Texas. While at Rice,
Demetrios was an intern at the James A. Baker
III Institute for Public Policy where he
assisted with research projects focused on
energy policy. He was also a member of the
President’s Honor Roll in 1996 to 1997. After
finishing his undergraduate studies, he worked
at Hughes & Luce in Austin, Texas as a
legislative assistant in the public law section
of the firm.
Demetrios received his law degree in 2002 from
Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. While
at Georgetown, he worked as an intern at the
Office of Citizen Complaint Review (OCCR) in
Washington, D.C. He was also employed as a law
clerk at the State and Local Legal Center, an
organization which advocates on behalf of state
and local governments involved in litigation
before the United States Supreme Court.
After graduating law school, Demetrios was
admitted to the Florida Bar in 2002, and moved
to Key West in February 2003 to work at the
Office of the State Attorney. He worked as a
prosecutor at the State Attorney’s Office for
over eight years, handling thousands of cases
ranging in severity from minor misdemeanor
offenses to serious violent crimes.
Demetrios is a member of
the Monroe County Bar Association, and the Young
Lawyer’s Division of the Florida Bar. He was
also admitted to the Hawaii Bar in 2009.
